Course aims
The aim of the module is to:
1) Introduce students to experimental approaches to ensemble creation as a collaborative enterprise;
2) Provide practical hands-on experience and competency to use various research and creative methods in the development of unique artistic practice (interviewing, writing, dramaturgy, staging);
3) Offer an experience in the design, management and production of a devised performance that goes beyond text-based theatre and addresses multiple registers of performance.
Learning outcomes
Students who have passed the course will be able to:
1) Demonstrate an understanding of the socio-historical contexts that underpin modes of collaborative creations;
2) Demonstrate an understanding of individual and autonomous research methods for performance;
3) Conduct an autonomous responsibility within a collaborative setting;
4) Analyse and compare the work of key practitioners and their critique of conventional theatre;
5) Experiment with devising skills to arrive at a collaborative dramaturgy in response to the sources;
6) Compose and effectively deliver a work as an ensemble from planning stage to production.
