Course aims
The aim of the course is to delve deeper into the working mechanisms of the music and sound design of the theatre and contemporary performance productions. We are looking for answers to the following questions: Is the music in the production just an illustrative background or can it carry dramaturgically important information? What do the directors hope to achieve by using different music and sounds in productions? Does and how does the principle of musical sound order affect the viewer of the performance? The course provides basic knowledge of the physical properties of sound, the principles of dramaturgy, the history of the development of film music, emotions related to music and the "inaudibility" of music (used in productions) and conditional levels. Practical part: recording, processing and playback of sounds.
