Course aims
The aim of the subject is to learn to know and apply different concepts of contemporary dance. The aim of the lessons is to further develop the fitness and expressiveness of the students. They will acquire the material needed for movements and dances in the 20th century stage productions. Additionally, the subject aims to improve and develop the students’ memory of movement, coordination, sense of balance, space and style, as well as to encourage them to boldly use their body on stage. Through individual work and integral etudes created in the lessons, students will learn how to simultaneously use movement, dance and singing.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the subject, the student will:
- have acquired the basic sets of steps of the 20th century dance styles;
- be able to perform a selection of the 20th century dances, expressing their ideas, styles and characters;
- have acquired the basic skills for performing dances, which include coordination, correctness, control, expressiveness, accuracy of poses and self-confidence;
- has learned and carried out exercises that include the simultaneous use of voice and movement;
- knows how to attract the viewers’ attention/concentration through the high level of expressiveness, with the varied use of dynamics, space and relations.
