Course aims
The course aims at developing the student's skills of playing in symphony orchestra setting, preparing them as prospective professional orchestral players.
Work is divided for saxophone between participation in saxophone quartet and woodwind ensembles/orchestras, for euphonium between participation in brass ensemble and woodwind ensembles/orchestras.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student will be able to
- perform with musical expression and technical accuracy the orchestral parts of standard symphony orchestra repertoire
- display knowledge of different periods and styles
- know the specifics and technical details of playing in the orchestra
- display precision in carrying out the notes, dynamics, articulations etc. intended in the music
