Course aims

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the work of a ballet accompanist. By the end of the course, students should have a basic understanding of the classical ballet technique class, know the structure of the class, the most important exercises, the musical accompaniment for these exercises, and its characteristics. Students should be able to find suitable musical accompaniments from various composers' repertoires for specific ballet exercises and be able to improvise appropriate accompaniments in a simple form. Additionally, students should have an overview of the most well-known ballets and understand the different stages and objectives of a ballet accompanist's work.


Learning outcomes

A student who has completed the course is capable of starting work in a ballet school, ballet theater, or ballet circle. They know the main practical techniques and objectives of a ballet accompanist's work. The student is able to accompany basic exercises at the barre, as well as simpler jumps and various turning techniques. They have an overview of the ballet repertoire and have experience in teamwork.
