Course aims
The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the main trends and developments in Western classical music in the 19th and 20th centuries, examining their formation in the broader cultural context and the social and political processes of the period.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be familiar with the main trends in Western art music of the 19th and 20th centuries, be able to characterise them musically and describe their development and reception in the context of the general cultural, social and political processes of the era.
