Course aims
The aim of the subject is to provide knowledge of French and English Baroque court and theatrical dances in the late 17th century and early 18th century and to prepare for their performance. The course includes lectures and practical dance lessons. Overview of the historical period and its dance culture. Beauchamp-Feuillet notation, manners, costumes.
Learning outcomes
- Acquiring the knowledge of Baroque court and theatrical dances and skills for their performance
- Knowing the foot and hand positions and their correct coordination as well as dance steps
- Knowing how to move according to the drawn movement plans; dancing with a partner and in a group
- Learning how to perform dances with musical sensitivity
- Expressing the style and aesthetics of the Baroque in dance performances
