Curriculum objectives
- providing students who already have a musical background prior to the Academy, with an education on a high international standard, responding to the requirements of contemporary musical life, in the field of instrument or voice performance. Completing the program is a pre-requisite for entering master´s degree studies;
- supporting an open learning environment that helps and further contributes to the specific skills and knowledge obtained from the curriculum;
- establishing conditions for personal and artistic growth;
- developing communicative competence, responsibility and co-operation abilities.
Learning outcomes of the curriculum
Upon completing the curriculum, the student will be able to:
1. perform music of different historical periods and styles with technical skill and artistic creativity, and realize his/her musical ideas and conceptions in a professional manner according to one´s major;
2. refer to appropriate performance techniques, skills and methods necessary for a successful completion of his/her creative projects;
3. display awareness of Western music history and music theory, and various issues and aesthetical ideas of contemporary music;
4. display knowledge of the wider field of humanities and arts;
5. apply basic pedagogical skills;
6. integrate the learnt topics, issues and musical material into one´s own musical projects in various ways;
7. communicate and participate, both written and colloquial, in his/her own language of instruction, and at least one more language, in musical discussions and on various musical topics;
8. successfully participate in team work and various initiatives that contribute to society and community in a wider and responsible way; able to use relevant digital technologies;
9. assess critically one´s own level of knowledge and skills, and continue with instrument/voice studies on the next academical level, or in other relevant and meaningful ways.
Short description of the curriculum
The curriculum consists of the following components and modules:
A Specialty field, 50 credits
B Practical courses related to the specialty field, 60-75 credits
- Chamber Music (for instrumentalists)
- Orchestra/Choir/Opera Studio/Accompaniment class (according to one´s specialty)
- Additional practical courses
C Courses related to music theory, music history, pedagogy and humanities, 45-60 credits
D Bachelor´s examination, 10 credits
E Free elective courses
Curriculum options
The student will complete the entire module A. From among modules B, the student will complete courses amounting to 60-70 credits in total. From among modules C, the student will complete courses amounting to 45-50 credits in total. Freely chosen courses, can be chosen either from the catalogue of EMTA or other colleges/universities. Module D is mandatory.
Graduation requirements (thesis, exams)
The curriculum will be completed by obtaining 170 credits for subject studies (50 credits in specialty, 60-70 credits in courses related to the specialty, 45-50 credits in courses related to music theory, music history, pedagogy and general studies), and 10 credits for the Bachelor's examination.

[BA01] Specialization module (for majors in Instrument Performance)

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to develop the artistic abilities and technical skills in music performance and support the student´s musical growth and creative achievement.

Upon completion of the module the student will be able to:
1. Realize his/her creative ideas and develop the musical potential in an artistic and meaningful way.
2. Display technical skills and play from memory a variety of repertoire on a basic professional level of accomplishment.
3. Demonstrate awareness of the main musical and performance styles and traditions.
4. Will be able to express the character and emotion of the music performed, and communicate it to the audience appropriately.
5. Verbalize and analyze various issues related to the performed repertoire.
6. Discuss in detail the trends of development, current issues and innovations in the field of one's main instrument, resp. voice.

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to provide the student with basic skills and various practical experience of orchestral playing.

Upon completion of the module the student will be able to:
1. Perform various repertory as member of orchestra, with appropriate technical skills and artistic expression.
2. Follow correctly the tempo, articulation, dynamic and other markings of the various works performed.
3. Display discipline and respect for other members of the ensemble/orchestra.
4. Listen and respond to the conductor and principal players.
5. Display awareness of the specifics of performing in various orchestral settings.
6. Display awareness of the specific technical aspects needed for orchestral playing, demonstrate knowledge of various orchestral styles.

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to provide the student with basic acting and role development skills, as well as an experience of combining acting and singing.
Upon completion of the module the student will be able to:
1. Perceive the relationship between acting and singing;
2. Pronounce texts of the performed works in foreign languages correctly, sing with good diction and know the meaning of the text;
3. Listen and respond to other performers, both singers and the orchestra;
4. Analyse his or her role and create a character in a musical state production;
5. Demonstrate knowledge of classical dance through centuries and apply the main principles on stage.

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to develop the student's analytical skills, to provide an advanced overview of music culture and its main categories, to expand the student's horizons and understanding of various topics related to the field of humanities, to introduce the student to the history of the didactics of their specialty field, as well as contemporary methods of teaching.
Upon completion of the module, the student will be able to:
1. identify different musical styles and analyse musical works in terms of harmony, counterpoints and form;
2. demonstrate knowledge of the main trends, genres, composition techniques and aesthetic principles in music history in relation to other fields of cultural history;

BD BANCHELOR'S EXAM

[BD01] Bachelor's exam (for majors in Music Performance)

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to prepare bachelor's recital program according to the established guidelines, and perform the recital.
Upon completion of the module the student will be able to:
1. Perform the program with artistic expression and technical mastership.
2. Demonstrate good command of various styles with appropriate aesthetics and articulation.
3. Observe the rules and etiquette of performing in public.
Relevant for majors in choral conducting:
4. Evaluate correctly the level and skills of the choir, conduct a choir rehearsal, communicate effectively with choir members, and choose the appropriate teaching approach for each piece.
