Curriculum objectives
The goals of the programme are:
- provide students, who have completed the first cycle of higher education, with an education of a high international standard in the field of classical music performance, responding to the requirements of contemporary musical life and directed to the development of creativity; completing the curriculum creates opportunities for employment in the profession or for Doctoral studies;
- support an open social and cultural learning environment that assists in mastering and applying the knowledge and skills both related to the field of specialisation and to other subjects described in the curriculum;
- create conditions for developing human self-reflection and a holistic understanding of the world;
- develop communicative competence, sense of responsibility, leadership and collaboration skills of the students.
Learning outcomes of the curriculum
Upon completing the curriculum, the student will be able to:
1. Perform music and realize his or her creative ideas at a level adequate for a professional musician;
2. Recognize and resolve issues related to the main study: adapt to various performance situations and perform in different ensemble settings, taking on leadership if needed, and/or demonstrate proficiency in the main instrument, improvisation, various styles and repertory; apply technical skills in ensemble both as participating musician and ensemble leader;
3. Display readiness for independent work in the field of specialisation, including working in an international framework, exhibiting initiative, responsibility, leadership and teamwork abilities;
4. Teach, instruct, and transmit knowledge in a competent manner;
5. Demonstrate knowledge of a field related to music or cultural industries;
6. Creatively integrate and apply the knowledge, skills and experience obtained in independent professional activity;
7. Communicate and justify various issues, conclusions and the underlying theories related to music in his/her own language and at least one foreign language in an oral or written format, and participate in relevant discussions with experts or non-professionals;
8. Effectively participate in teamwork both at work and in everyday life, display social responsibility and exhibit tolerance for different attitudes and values;
9. Take proper decisions in ethically complicated situations, demonstrate awareness of moral and ethical aspects, as well as the possibilities, limitations and wider consequences of one's professional activity, and provide reasoned opinions on issues related to music and culture;
10. Evaluate critically the knowledge and skills obtained, continue further with professional training and develop one's understanding of both music and culture in general.
Short description of the curriculum
The curriculum consists of the following parts:

Curriculum options
Module A is mandatory for all students.
From among the subjects of module B, the student will complete 35-40 ECTS. From module C, the student will complete 30-35 ECTS.
Freely chosen courses, amounting to 5 credits, can be chosen either from the EAMT Subject Catalogue or from other higher education institutions. Module D is mandatory.
Graduation requirements (thesis, exams)
The curriculum will be completed by obtaining 105 credits for subject studies and 15 credits for the Master's degree examination.

MA MAIN STUDY

[MA01] Specialization module (for majors in music performance)

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to guide the student in developing the artistic and technical skills, and creative initiative that characterize professional musicianship as performer and accompanist/ensemble musician, able to perform repertory of highest level of difficulty and participate in various ensembles and settings.

Learning outcomes of the module. Upon completing the module, the student will be able to:
1. Perform repertory of different periods and styles, and realize creative ideas with artistic maturity and technical fluency;
2. Demonstrate proficiency of technical skills specific to the field of study;
3. Display a sense and understanding of different styles and apply the appropriate articulation, phrasing, dynamics etc;
4. Perceive musical structure and communicate the emotional and artistic content of the work;
5. Handle various problems and issues that emerge in the course of working in different settings, such as master classes, orchestral or ensemble rehearsals, and take on leadership if necessary;
6. Apply the obtained knowledge, skills and experience independently in one's musical activity;

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to
- Bring the chmaber music skills of the student to a professional standard;
- Prepare the student for independent career as ensemblist and accompanist;
- Develop self-analysis and self-criticism, and the ability to learn from others.

Objective of the module: Aim of the module: The aim of the module is to develop the orchestral skills of the student and provide a variety of experience in this field.

MIX320 is a mandatory subject for KP, PP, LP, MIX320 A1, A2 are mandatory for KA (orchestral instruments). MIX302 according to the model curriculum.

Upon completing the module, the student will be able to:
1. Perform various repertory, as member of orchestra, with artistic expression and technical fluency;
2. Display ability to correctly follow the part, including tempo, dynamics and articulation;
3. Exhibit respect for orchestral discipline and teamwork;
4. Correctly follow the conductor's and principal's instructions;
5. Demonstrate understanding of the specifics of various orchestral settings;

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to develop instrumentalist's perception of voice;
provide a better understanding of music through poetic texts used in various genres of vocal music; enhance dramaturgical thinking in opera music.

Upon completing the module, the student will be able to:

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to develop and diversify a number of musical abilities and skills that support the development of a student as a contemporary professional musician (such as creative thinking, an additional musical instrument, vocal skills, improvisation, etc.).

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to prepare future opera soloists and provide them with necessary practical guidance and skills; provide an overview, during 4 semesters, of Romantic and 20th century opera; train the student in stage movement and dance.

Upon completing the module, the student will be able to:
1. Prepare and work out roles in full-scale operas, operettas and musicals;

[MC09] Basic Entrepreneurial Skills (Elective modul for English-language curricula)

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to provide the students with basic knowledge of cultural entrepreneurship and the environment of cultural economy and finance, as well as develop practical skills for effective creative work in market economy conditions.

The student has to choose at least one subject from among the subjects of the module or complete a module for full study load, including subjects MAG500 and MAG912.

Upon completion of the module, the student will be able to:
1. Display basic knowledge of the foundations of Estonian cultural politics, contract law and intellectual property;
2. Demonstrate understanding of how cultural projects are financed, conducted and regulated, and various juridical possibilities for creative work;
3. Write projects and display knowledge of cultural legislation;
4. Effectively participate in team work;

[MC10] Recital Project

Objective of the module: The aim of the module is to offer students an opportunity to develop their artistry as a well-rounded performer and to give them experience in administrative tasks essential to developing a career as a musician.

Elective module.

The recital project will give students necessary skills for a sustainable career as a musician, training them in aspects of performance as well as IT and arts administration.

MD MASTER'S DEGREE EXAMINATION/MASTER´S THESES

[MD01] Master´s Exam (for majors in musisc performance)

Objective of the module: Learning outcomes of the module. Upon completion of the module the student will be able to:
1. Perform master's recital program with artistic expression and technical fluency;
2. Display creativity and maturity of performance;
3. Demonstrate good sense of style and apply specific stylistic tools and means of expression in different works;
4. Display good stage etiquette;
5. Evaluate properly the musical and technical level of choir, conduct a choir rehearsal, demonstrate communication skills and understanding of teaching methods (relevant for majors in choral conducting).
